- Once the candidate has been evaluated and has demonstrated competency the candidate will be recognized in the CAC (Coaching Association of Canada) database as CERTIFIED
As being a certified Instructor/Coach is a great accomplishment there are still some aspects that you will be held responsible for to maintin a current coaching status. To remain listed on the website you need have these on file as well. Should you let any of these documents/requirements expire you will be removed from the website listings until you get up to date.
EC ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR OF BEGINNER
- Must keep Equine Canada Membership (SILVER sport license) current every year plus Coaches levy
- Must keep AEF membership current every year
- Must submit 20 hours of updating in 3 year cycles from the date you were certified; please contact the office if you are unsure what cycle you are in or need any clarification; you must attend at least one provincial coaching update in every 3 year cycle as well
- Must submit a new Criminal Record Search every 5 years
- Must keep current valid First Aid certificate on file at all times
- Must complete the CAC Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation and submit proof of success (one time only requirement)
EC ENGLISH COACHES

All of these documents must be submitted to the AEF to be kept on file. You can email copies to coaching@albertaequestrian.com or fax ATTN: Coaching Administrator to: 403-252-5260.
Complimentary through the AEF you will receive a monthly "Coach Update Letter" letting you know when your First Aid and Criminal record checks will expire so that you can stay up to date. Once a year a "Coach All Letter" will be sent out in January letting you know what we have on file regarding your coaching file so that you can submit the appropriate documents. Please note that sometimes the "Coach All Letter" will overlap with Membership renewals, in which case coaches are encouraged to renew their AEF membership before the year end to ensure that they are continually listed on our website as a current coach, because if you let your membership become overdue you will be automatically removed from the coaching listing page, and will not return to current status until your membershi renewal is processed. It is a requirement of ALL instructors/coaches that up to date AEFmemberships are held to maintain currency.
Regarding Up to Date First Aid: Proof of a current first aid certificate must be provided to the AEF to maintain currency of status. Must be courses run through St.John Ambulance/ Red Cross or an equivelent course. After 3 First Aid/CPR updates attended in person, coaches may update online to a maximum of 2x using the provider approved by Equine Canada at the following link:

UPDATING REQUIREMENTS
It is important to have highly knowledgeable and competent coaches and instructors that continue to advance their knowledge and develop skills, which results in ensuring a high quality learning environment for equestrians at all levels.
In the Continuing Education Professional Development (CEP) program an Equine Canada NCCP Coach or Instructor may be recognized at one of the three levels of professional development based on the number of credits accumulated in a three (3) year cycle.
Please note a minimum of 20 hours is required for a certified Equine Canada NCCP Coach or Instructor to maintain a current status with their certification.

Mandatory participaticipation is required in the CEP program for certified Coaches and Instructors. Certified Coaches and Instructors are:

are responsible to track their eligible continuing education activities completed throughout the three (3) years period.

must ensure the Continuing Education Record form is completed and returned to the AEF where this information will be held in your coach or instructor file. Submitting this information to the AEF, by the respective deadline, will help ensure recognition and maintenance of an active coach or instructor certification is recognized.

ensure each continuing education activity being claimed for credit is fully detailed on your Continuing Education Record forms. Any activities with incomplete description or documentation will not be credited.

are aware that only continuing education activities listed on the updating activities page may be claimed for credit. Additional credits hours earned in one CEP three (3) year cycle may not be carried over into the next three (3) cycle, unless extenuating circumstances are accepted and approved by the provincial Master Course Conductor Evaluator

CEP program to earn the necessary credits to maintain an active coaching or instructing status with Equine Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada Once a coach or instructor's Continuing Education Record forms have been verified an active status will be recognized for three (3) consecutive years.

Updating Hour Formula:
2 hours of participation = 1 hour of upgrading claimable to a maximum of 6 hours / day or 3 hours / half day with the exception of the National Symposia updating hours and Coaching Skill Development / NCCP / Coaching Association / other activites where 1 hours of participation would be 1 hour claimable for updating. The only exception is Personal Athletic Development which will be 3 hours of participation = 1 hour of claimable PD hours.
There is a maximum number of hours you can claim for your first 20 hours which is outlined on the documents below. After these 20 hours of updating have been completed additional hours with no maximum under one any category are allowed to be claimed with the same formula's as outlined above.

- Established overall standards, policies and procedures for all EC coaching programs
