The AEF Provincial Official Program was introduced in 2010 at wich time the AEF began training and carding Alberta Provincial Officials to provide an introduction to officiating for those considering the field, as well as to provide support for the AEF Wild Rose competition program, also introduced in 2010.

The AEF recommends that all officials seriously consider maintaining their own individual insurance coverage. Capri Insurance, as a benefit of AEF membership, offers insurance coverage to national or provincially certified officials (including course designers) at preferred rates.
