Do you want to improve trails in your area?
"Equestrian Stewardship in Action"
Equestrian trail riding, both local and in the back country, is a wonderful way to spend your days and is becoming increasingly popular. This increased demand has created an additional need for new resources. The Alberta Government has reduced its financial commitment for maintaining and developing recreational staging sites and trails. If the Equestrian community hopes to continue to have access to existing equestrian trails or to expect further development on new trails, the resources to realize these expectations will have to be funded by recreational riders.
The Alberta Equestrian Trail Supporter Program provides recreational riders the opportunity to support a funding initiative which addresses local, regional and provincial needs. By joining the Trail Supporter Program, you can help. The annual trail supporter fee is $35.00. These funds are used for trail development to provide facilities such as high lines, toilets, fire rings, signage, wells for stock watering, trail bridges, etc. A newsletter, providing information of trail development projects is also distributed to each trail supporter and posted on the web site. Please note that updates of Trail Projects and reports are now posted in our quarterly member's magazine, Alberta Bits.
Wherever possible, the development of dollars is used as "seed funding" to obtain additional funding from other granting agencies. A review committee receives, reviews and approves specific funding proposals.
The names of all participants are maintained in an electronic database. This database is used to inform supporters of ongoing trail planning initiatives and to solicit specific inputs on issues as they arise.
If you would like more information on becoming a Trail Supporter member please contact us or join the AEF and add this program onto your AEF membership. This can be done at any time.
Donations to the Trail Supporter Program are used for future development and maintenance. We would like to graciously thank our donors for their contribution to this worthwhile program.
Past projects and upcoming projects are reported on in Alberta Bits magazine, in our news and website to all members.
