The Government of Canada Supports Western Horse Review

Canadian horse enthusiasts will have continued access to all things related to the experience of western riding in Canada,
thanks to an investment by the Government of Canada.

The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Industry, on behalf of the Honourable Josee Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage,
Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced financial support for Western Horse Review, published by Dakota
Design and Advertising Limited, a magazine publishing company located in Calgary, Alberta.

Dakota Design and Advertising will receive $36,124 in funding to help offset the costs of producing this magazine with
high levels of Canadian editorial content.

"This funding is proof of the Government of Canada's commitment to giving the magazine industry the tools it needs to offer
Canadians a wide range of high-quality magazines," said Minister Verner. "It is important to support our magazine publishing
industry, which is a powerful symbol not only of our creativity and innovative spirit, but also of the vitality of our
culture and economy."

"Western Horse Review magazine enables Canadian riding fans from Alberta and all over the country to share their knowledge,
views, and know-how," said Minister Prentice. "With this financial support, the magazine will now be able to continue to
offer quality Canadian content to its readers."

"Here in Canada, most equine publications are regional newspaper throwaways. As Canada's only national western riding
magazine, and one of the only with a bona fide subscriber base, we clearly appreciate the recognition Canadian Heritage
has paid to Western Horse Review. It helps us continue to produce the award-winning, credible, reliable Canadian editorial
our readers have come to expect and a North American audience has come to recognize as an outstanding showcase of Canadian
riders and horses," said Ingrid Schulz, Editor, Western Horse Review. "We certainly salute Canadian Heritage's vision in
its continuing support of the Canadian presence on the newsstand."

The Government of Canada has provided this funding for this project under the Support for Editorial Content component of
the Canada Magazine Fund. This is a formula-based contribution program that provides funding to eligible Canadian-owned
and -controlled magazines based on their total of eligible editorial expenses.
