April 4, 2008 Fire ban in effect at provincial parks in Southern Alberta Due to dry conditions in parts of Alberta, a fire ban is now in place at 12 provincial parks and recreation areas. The ban is effective immediately and until further notice. The fire ban applies to: Fish Creek Provincial Park: in Calgary between 37th Street southwest and the Bow River, southeast Park Lake Provincial Park: 17 km NW of Lethbridge on Hwy 25, then 5 km NW on Hwy 101 Lake McGregor Provincial Recreation Area: 20 km N of Vulcan on Hwy 23, then 25 km E on Hwy 542 Little Bow Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area: 20 km S of Vulcan on Hwy 23, 36 km E on Hwy 529 & 3 km S on access road Travers Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area: 40 km SE of Champion on Hwy 529 Little Bow Provincial Park: approximately 35 km SE of Vulcan Wyndham-Carseland Provincial Park: 4 km SE of Carseland Big Knife Provincial Park: 60 km NE of Stettler Bragg Creek Provincial Park: 2 km SW of Bragg Creek Fallen Timber Provincial Recreation Area: 45 km NW of Sundre Little Fish Lake Provincial Park: 50 km SE of Drumheller Steveville campsite at Dinosaur Provincial Park (ban applies to Steveville campsite only, not the park as a whole): approximately 50 km NE of Brooks This fire ban prohibits the use of all wood, briquette and propane/natural gas fires, including those contained in designated fire facilities.
