May 9, 2008 Jan Stephens Named as Steward General for Canada  Equine Canada is pleased to announce that Jan Stephens has accepted the position of Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) Steward General for Canada  representing the disciplines of Jumping, Eventing and Reining. Stephens will also act as Steward General for Driving until a decision is made about who  will be chosen as their representative. Stephens, a native of Oakbank, MB has been a member of Equine Canada since 1974, and is an FEI Steward, the highest level of Steward, in the disciplines of  Jumping, Eventing and Reining. Stephens is taking over the position that was left open after the passing of her long-time friend and mentor Sandra Sillcox. "I am thankful for the leadership that Sandra had provided in her position as Steward General," noted Stephens. "I would like to continue the trend that  she worked so hard to start and maintain." In the position of Steward General, Stephens will be expected to represent Canada at FEI Steward General meetings and will be responsible for the development  of new FEI Stewards within Canada. In this capacity Stephens is hoping to conduct FEI Steward clinics across the country for the development of potential  FEI Stewards in the near future.
