PROGRAMS

Rider / Driver Development
Both the Rider and Driver Development programs were developed for people who want to learn safe horsemanship skills and practices on a national standard under the guidance of a certified Equine Canada Instructor or Coach.

Instructor Programs
The instructor programs are designed for people 16 years of age or older who may want to teach beginners. The goal of the Instructor Program is to develop an instructor who is capable of teaching at the beginner level in a safe and constructive manner. It also acts as an introduction to the EC coaching program.

Coaching Programs
Our coaching programs are designed to develop professional, accountable coaches who are skilled trainers. We offer:
  • English Coaching Program
  • Western Coaching Program
  • Driving Coach Program
  • Active Certified Instructors and Coaches
This list of certified coaches will help you find a qualified instructor or coach in your area.

Alberta Ride and Drive Program
The Alberta Ride and Drive program rewards riders and drivers of horses for logging the hours they spend riding or driving! It is open to riders/drivers of all disciplines, including therapeutic, whether competing, schooling, or simply having fun with their horse! Even those who rent a horse are eligible to participate. There is no age restriction…it’s for the young and the young-at-heart!

Trail Supporter Program
The Alberta Trail Support Program provides recreational riders with the opportunity to support funding initiatives that support local, regional and provincial needs.

Live Outside the Box

The live Outside the Box Program was designed to encourage AEF youth members aged 10-14 to engage in a more active lifestyle by spending less time in front of the computer and television. Awards are presented each year at the AEF AGM to participate(s) that had the highest number of consecutive screen free days, lowest amount of screen time and highest amount of Horse time.
