It is estimated that Alberta is home to more than 320,000 horses, approximately 33% of the total horse population in Canada. There is not an industry more diverse than the equine industry, which includes, but is not limited to, racing, sport, ranching, breeding, boarding, pleasure, recreation, and companion animals.

With over 18,000 members, in over 435 communities covering a wide variety of interests, disciplines, industry partners, breeds, health, and welfare of equines among others, we are committed to the entire Alberta Equine Community, humans and herd, whether members or not.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alberta Equestrian Federation, along with leading industry partners, has launched “Alberta Equine Partners for the Herd”, a fundraising initiative to support the equine community in Alberta during these difficult and uncertain times to come. We care wholeheartedly about Alberta’s horses and we are concerned about the risk to their well-being due to the financial difficulties brought on by the pandemic.

You can help today. For more information, and how to donate, please visit Alberta Equine Partners for the Herd

Applications closed September 30th, 2020. *A second round of applications is likely to be launched in mid- December. Details to follow. *

Let’s work hard to keep the Alberta equine population cared for.

The Alberta Equine Partners for the Herd is raising money to offer assistance for Alberta horse owners that may be in need during these difficult times. We want to ensure the essential SAFETY, HEALTH and CARE of Alberta horses over the 2020-2021 winter.
