Robin began her journey as a professional in the equine industry by attending NAIT in 2006, majoring in Horsemanship. She continued on to work under multiple trainers in various disciplines. Robin attended numerous clinics and informational clinics in pursuit of further knowledge in the areas of Equine Therapy, Equine Bio-Mechanics, Equine Science and Rehabilitation.
Although she had found her niche in the industry training horses, the demand for horsemanship instruction at the barns she was working at became evident. She started taking on clients, helping them through problem areas and developing their horsemanship skills. This is what inspired her desire to obtain her Instructor certification through Equestrian Canada.
In 2016, she began working as the Equine Training and Facilities Coordinator for the Calgary Police Service Mounted Unit. She is now the equitation and drill instructor for the Mounted Unit members and is responsible for selecting and training new mounts for operational patrol. The riding program uses the Equestrian Canada Learn to Ride Western levels 1-4 as part of their Basic Training Standard which maintains consistency required for the success of the program.
AEF established the “Canter Away Current” incentive in 2016 in an effort to encourage EC/NCCP instructors/coaches in Alberta to keep current with their credentials by maintaining their first aid, background checks, memberships, and professional development. This incentive allows for a quarterly draw rewarding an EC/NCCP instructor/coach with a $200 Greenhawk Giftcard.
