Coach Certification Vs. Coach Status

EC NCCP Certification and Coach Status are two independent programs that work in tandem to verify all safety, screening, and coaching education requirements have been met. Only coaches that are EC NCCP Certified AND Licensed Coach Status are allowed to deliver and/or evaluate (additional training required) the Rookie Riders and Learn To Ride/Drive programs.

Rookie Riders is a fun and comprehensive program that teaches skills that are fundamental to success in horseback riding through Gymnastic and Barrel activities that focuses on developing the skills used in equestrian sport. Participants who complete the Rookie Riders program finish with a strong foundation in the National Learn to Ride Program – Level 1 (English and Western).

The Learn to Ride/Drive program (also known as Rider Levels) is the Equestrian Canada riding/driving lesson standard that develops practical hands-on stable management and riding/driving skills along with the knowledge that will help ensure riding is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
