The main focus of a steward at a hunter/jumper show is to ensure animal welfare and a level playing field for all participants. While a judge is responsible for what happens inside the ring, the steward looks after the schooling and warm up areas, in and out gates, stabling area, and every other part of the show grounds.

AEF is happy to announce an opportunity for officials training with the upcoming 2023 Hunter/Jumper Steward Officials Clinic featuring Equestrian Canada (EC) Sr. Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation Judge, Susan Hawes. This clinic is geared to those interested in learning more about the roles of a steward at sanctioned hunter/jumper competitions and the process to obtain an officials card. It will also benefit current certified stewards (AEF or EC) looking to maintain and update their officials status.

The event will take place at Spruce Meadows, Calgary, on October 16, 2023.

Registrations are now open. Limit to 20 participants. Click here to register.
